Secrets and hiding spots

Anthony and I were discussing options on how to stretch a dollar our upcoming vacation. I mentioned camping and sleeping outside in a tent. Emily: No no no. I am NOT sleeping outside with the bugs. Me: We wouldn't let bugs in our tent. Emily: But there's bears. No no no. I am NOT doing that!

After I told Anthony that I had requested Daddy get extra vacation days without asking:
Me: Don't tell Daddy. He's probably going to be mad so I want to find my own way to tell him. Anthony: Oh I know. You could put it in a love note.
Me: What? I don't know how to write a love note.
Anthony: Start with something like.... I secretly love you but am too shy to say it.......
Me: Yeah, um no. That will never work.......But something tells me this kid has done this before. Actually, I know he's done this before.

Emily: Mommy what's this? (a glow stick headband)
Me: What were you doing in my purse?
Emily: I wanted to see if there was anything good in there. What is it?
Me: It was a surprise for you. For later. But now you ruined the surprise.
Emily: You should have kept it away from me.
 Me: I did! That's why it was in my purse! Emily: Well you should have put it up high......

Anthony lost a tooth last night and didn't tell us so he could "test" the tooth fairy.  He said if she was real then she would know he lost a tooth and where he hid it.  I tried to convince him that she doesn't know until I text her....He's doubted for years, but Daddy and I aren't admitting anything.

Happy Times

The kids received "mystery mail" today. I don't know who was more excited.  The kids are more convinced than ever convinced that their elf on the shelf (and his cousin) are watching over them all year.)  And Daddy and I had fun solving the mystery and figuring out which of our friends sent them money for our family's vacation jar.  Thank you Sue Dellea.  She's a very nice lady that Daddy and I used to work with at Cracker Barrel.  She's also in Mommy's book club with Aunt Kim and Aunt Chris.

Emily checked Aubrey into the hospital and diagnosed her with a fever and prescribed bed rest.  She was writing her diagnosis in her big book of boo boos.

The kids love a good race.  They like to ride around the dining room table.

Anthony went to the grocery store with me today.  We found a gigantic this giant airplane in the clearance section. It flies awesome.

Daddy taught Aubrey how to pedal today.

The stuff little girls say

Emily:   Daddy, if your work friends try to make you stay late, just say no and drive straight home.

Emily:   Can I say bad words when I'm a grown up?
Mommy:  What bad words did you want to say?
Emily: I can't say them.  You'll get mad at me.
Mommy:  You can say it this once.  What bad word do you want to say when you grow up?
Emily:  Oh my gosh.

I remember having a very similar conversation with Anthony when he was her age.  I think the word he wanted to say was stupid.
