Library Day

Today was Emily's second week going to story hour at the library.  She's really starting to come out of her shell. Johnny was off work so this time it was Emily, Grandma, Mommy, and Daddy. I think she had a good time.  She sat with Johnny on the floor while Mr. Spence read stories. She even went to the board (with daddy) and added her paper ice cream scoop to the cone.  Then she wanted it back. After that she finger painted.  She enjoyed it but she made a mean face when I tried to teach her how to paint with her fingers.  She preferred using the brush.  One of the other mommys had two bags of clothes and shoes for Emily. When we left she got her bracelet and lolipop from the basket and it took some convincing but Johnny was able to get her to give Mr. Spence a high five.....

Dinner.....  We played the 'Where's your _____'game. Anthony thought this was especially hilarious.  We asked Emily where her belly button was.  She lifted her shirt and sucked in her tummy and pointed.  Then we asked her where her nose was.  She smiled and stuck her finger up her nose.  Of course all the laughing just made her do it more :)

Today was our first family fun day in awhile.  We didn't do anything special.  We ran errands.  We got Anthony some children's fish oil pills that aren't so hard to swallow.  Then we stopped at Dollar Tree and got the kids each a helium balloon.  Emily got a red heart and Anthony picked a green star.  Then we went to a party store in search of the perfect sippy cup.  They didn't have what I was looking for but I did find one in the shape of a baseball with a crazy straw wrapped around it.  I got one for each of them and they each got a slide whistle.  It was so cute watching them in the car.  Emily learned how to use it by watching her brother and was so proud of herself for being able to do it too.  Then we went to McKays and the boys got a video game and I got a book.  On the way home Emily accidentally popped her balloon and Anthony gave her his.  So sweet :)

Anthony got a 100% on his spelling test today.  We stopped at the redbox and rented The Last Airbender.  The kids are playing (role reversal)  Emily is playing Mario Cart while Anthony is organizing her kitchen. In a few minutes Anthony and I are going to read Emily a book.  Today was library day at school and he checked out a Blues Clues book for her.  I think I smell the 6th poopy diaper of the day.   I think she's over her constipation problem ;-)

She can talk....

For the longest time Emily has been calling everyone DADA.  Occasionally she calls me mmmumumm. Today she finally said Anthony's name. It took several tries but she practiced all morning until she got it right.  First she called him Ack daddy, then acky, then acne, and then she said ATNEY.  She said it over and over again...... I was just thinking about all the times when she first learned to say DADA (her first word) and on car rides I will tell her say MAMA and Anthony and Johnny would both say DADA.  It was a game, even after Emily could say my name she wouldn't.  She wanted to make the boys laugh so everytime I tried to get her to say my name, she always laughed and said Dada.

Last night, to help Emily along with her little 'problem', I decided to make a very fiber rich chicken vegetable soup for dinner.  I raided the cabinets and freezer reading labels.  Ok, this is how I normally make soup, with the same ingredients, but this time I looked on the labels for fiber.  I made sure Emily's bowl had extra kidney beans, lima beans, and barley.  Anthony is always complaining that he doesn't like my cooking but it must not have been to bad because Emily licked her fingers and Anthony licked his bowl.... Well, that's not entirely true.  Anthony asked to be excused and I told him he had to drink the juice.  Emily really did love it.  She ate all of hers, some of mine and tried to steal Anthony's when he wasn't looking..... Anthony helped her in her seat (he had never done that before) and I'm not sure why Emily kept covering her ears. I think she was trying to be silly.  She loves to make her big brother laugh.  My dinner prayer last night.... Dear God, Thank you for my children. I'm sorry they don't have good table manners, especially the big one.  Amen!

Tuesday night we had to take Emily to the ER.  She was acting constipated after she had already done 5 poops that day so we were concerned.  For half an hour she was miserable.  She wanted to be held, then she wanted to be put down.  By the time we left for the hospital she was feeling much better, but we decided better to be safe than sorry.  We worried that maybe she swallowed a toy or something.  At the hospital they gave her xrays of her belly.  She didn't like that very much but they said she was ok.  She was just a little backed up.  They gave us special medicine to put in her bottle at night. She did enjoy playing with my cell phone while we were there.  She danced to all the different ring tones.

Emily's first library day

Today was Emily's first library day.  Mostly she people watched but she seemed to enjoy herself.  Mr. Spence read two books and they sang the abc's. I think her favorite part was towards the end when they colored.  She sat across from a little boy, Zack, who had just turned two. Emily watched him a lot (he was very active) He reminded me a lot of Anthony.  She didn't want to leave when it was time to go but held out her hand when Mr. Spence gave her a silly band and lollipop.

HELLO 2011

2011 Here we are!   Aunt Chris and Uncle Larry had to bring Skylar home.  Anthony has not been back to school since Christmas break ended due to snow.   Not to worry, he doesn't mind a bit.  I would have thought he would hate missing his friends and spending most of his days being cooped up in the house but he seems to be enjoying himself.  Emily got a black eye the other day climbing down from Anthony's bed. She's such a trooper.  She cried for a minute or two and then went on as if nothing happened.
