We're all getting over our bout with the flu. Friday was Anthony's cub scout Christmas party. The boys played charades and then had a gift exchange. Anthony got the toy that all the other boys wanted. All thanks to his strategizing. He's so funny. Melanie, the boys den leader, said that a gift could only be "stolen" three times. Anthony first picked the game Battleship, which luckily got stolen since he already has that game. When he had to pick out another present he chose the one we brought. It was a toy wooden gun that you build yourself that shoots rubber bands. He was one that PawPaw got him last time he visited from Florida. So he already knew it was a cool toy. The toy he wanted, a remote control car had only been stolen once at that point so he knew if he took it he wouldn't get to keep it, so he picked his own toy hoping knowing it was a cool toy that someone would want to steal, which they did, so Anthony then got to steal the remote control car he had his eye on. He later told me that he planned all this out.
Christmas Eve we went to the children's mass at church and Anthony got to be a shepherd in the nativity scene. He wasn't the happiest shepherd but he sure was the cutest. The kids were pretty good in church other then Emily spent most of the time picking her nose. And Aubrey let out a raspberry farting noise, of course when the rest of the room was silent. After church we went to Grandmas and all had dinner together and opened presents. Emily kept telling me that she was on the naughty list.
In the words of Emily, "This was the best Christmas EVER!" It was so fun to watch the kids open their presents. Anthony's jaw dropped after each thing he unwrapped and after unwrapping each toy Emily said things like, "I love it. It's just what I wanted for Christmas!" The funny thing about that was she would say it before she finished unwrapping and before she even knew what the present was. After presents, Daddy made us all a pork loin on the smoker. Aubrey was a little young to enjoy Christmas yet. She was content as long as she was being held and her favorite present came from Grandma, a little stuffed frog that plays music and lights up stars and the moon on the ceiling.
Emily loved her two new Dora dolls. A fantastic gymnastic one from Santa, and a Dora mermaid that swims in the bathtub from Grandma and Grandpa. Mommy and Daddy got her her own scooter and her own box of Legos. Anthony loved all his presents too. He said he couldn't decide on a favorite, but if he had to, it would probably be his Back to the Future Wii game.
