Christmas 2010

 

This year we had our first white Christmas.  It snowed really hard for most of the day.  It was beautiful.  Anthony was excited.  Emily was a little overwhelmed.  Santa was very good to the kids this year.  Emily got a new kitchen, a shopping cart full of food, and lots and lots of clothes.  Anthony got all kinds of car tracks and the pocket racer car he asked for.  They both got Zhu Zhu pets to share. They were a big hit.  We had ham dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Christmas Eve

It's almost Christmas.  I can't wait.  Presents are wrapped and cookies are baked.  Emily tried to kiss her brother good morning.  I say try because, when he saw her face was covered in dried snot and milk down her chin, he politely declined.  When I told Anthony he was going to hurt her feelings, he said, "She's ok mommy, she likes a challenge."   Not much longer now.  And the best part, This may be our first white Christmas.  The weather man is calling for snow.  There's a 70% chance.   :)

Reunited

Emily is home from her vacation.  Anthony claims he didn't miss her but he sure seemed excited to see when she got home....

Santa at the Christmas store

Today Johnny and I took Anthony to see Santa Claus at the Christmas store in Pigeon Forge.  Anthony was already prepared to tell him the one thing he wanted most, for his dog Lucy to get to see her dog mama and brothers and sisters.   I got a little nervous when he said he was gonna test Santa to make sure he was the real one.  He wasn't going to tell him his dogs name and see if he knew it.  I tried to tell him that Santa probably wouldn't know Lucy's name and then he said he must not be real.   I told him that you can tell he's the real Santa because his beard is real.  He said "Then I'm gonna tug it."  By the time we got to the front of the line, Anthony was wired as can be.  I told him he better behave because Santa was watching.  He walked right up to him and posed for pictures.  He must have forgotten his plan to test Santa. Santa asked if he was good and Anthony said yes :)  Then Anthony pulled two miniature snickers bars out of his pocket and asked Santa to give them to Comet.  Santa asked if Comet was his favorite reindeer and if he could have one of the candy bars.  Anthony smiled real big and shook his head no.  Santa said ok, but at Christmas, Comets not getting any of my cookies.

Narnia

While Emily was traveling with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Kim to Virginia for her cousins 2nd birthday party, Anthony and I went to see the new Chronicles of Narnia movie. Then we went to the Burger King playground again.  I ordered a kids meal too so Anthony could have two new Zhu Zhu pets.  Then we did a little grocery shopping. (He's so good in the stores now thanks to Memom giving him his own portable fm radio with earphones) Then we rented Ramona and Beezus at the Redbox.  Two movies in one day and both were excellent.

Adventure at Grandma's: Snow day

Yesterday we came to Grandma's and got snowed in so we had a sleepover. Anthony stayed up late to watch Titanic (since he had just visited the museum) The kids watched for snow and wrestled in Grandmas bed in the morning. In the afternoon the kids got to play outside it the snow.  It was to soft for snowman building but there was enough for sledding.  FYI.... It's very difficult to pull 100 pounds in a sled while taking pictures. Later we made homemade root beer snowballs from the snow on top of the cars.

Finally, enough snow to play in.  Ok there's not much, but at least it stuck to the ground.  The driveway and cars are covered.  School is closed tomorrow, so Anthony is going to miss his field trip to the Black Bear Jamboree again.  But a least we might get to play in the snow.

Grandma picked Anthony up from school today.  She took him to Titanic in Pigeon Forge to see the snow. He's also having a sleepover.  Emily was wild today.  She got in the kitchen cabinets and was playing with my pots.  She was using the pots for drums and was sliding the lids across the floor like she was playing air hockey.  When I went to get a hand towel out of the drawer I found out that she had filled the drawer with diapers.  Emily woke up a few minutes ago crying.  She was holding Mr. Monkey.  I kept telling her to put him down, but she wouldn't listen.  It was still dark in her room so I didn't notice right away, but he was attached to her wrist.  She somehow got her hand in the bow around his neck and was wearing him around her wrist like a bracelet.

Since schools were closed due to snow and it was in the 20's the last few days, Anthony didn't get to play outside.  He was getting kind of restless yesterday so I took him to the Burger King indoor playground to burn some energy. He got a new zhu zhu pet with his happy meal and then we did some shopping.  The bunnies are sleeping inside in the dog cage since it's so cold out and I guess the heater has added a little static cling to Emily's hair. Tonight Anthony had a lot of homework and make up work.  Daddy rewarded him with an Anthony/Daddy movie party.  They're watching Jim Carrey's The Grinch that stole Christmas.

Emily eventually ate her lunch....off a spoon and drank her smoothie. Instead of just saying drink, she also says juice, and she loves to drink out of a straw.  Carysa came over later and they played puppy (Carysa's favorite game) The crawled around on the floor and barked like dogs.  Usually I can't stand it when they play pupply (ok, I still can't stand it) but I laughed like crazy when Emily joined in too.  It's not everyday she crawls, and I've never heard her bark before, but it was funny.

What a day we're having

What a crazy day this has turned out to be.  I'm enjoying it though.  Schools are closed (even though it's barely snowing) so Anthony had to miss his field trip to the Bear Show in Pigeon Forge (which makes me said because they're closing this month and out of all the shows, the Bear Show is my favorite) I asked him how he felt about missing it and he changed the subject by telling me how a penis is similar to a jack in the box toy.  Then, he helped himself to a large bowl of potato chips.  (at 9am) I didn't stop him because it sounded like he was pouring cheerios.  Then when I told him that he couldn't have them for breakfast and to put them away, he and his sister had a tug of war contest and chips were everyhere.  When I told him to sweep them up, he swung the broom and broke a picture frame.  I put Emily down for a nap and made Anthony lunch.  He was eating while I took a shower.  Apparently Emily woke up and he let her out of her crib. She spilled his bowl of beanie wienies and she and the dog were eating them off the floor.  She laughed and something that sounded an awlful lot like...."That was good stuff."

Things have calmed down a bit.  The house is almost clean.  Emily had a bath and Anthony is across the street playing with Carysa.  I sure wish there was time to squeeze a nap in today, but since there's not, bedtime might come early tonigh

The kids watched Saturday morning cartoons and played together until Grandma came to pick Anthony up for his sleepover.  Sunday was Anthony/Grandma day.

We were pleasantly surprised to wake up to snow flurries this morning.  There's no snow on the ground but there was a tiny bit on our cars and the deck.  It was just barely snowing at 7 this morning and so far hasn't stopped.  Emily is enjoying undecorating the Christmas tree.  She thinks the ornaments are balls and has been chucking them across the room.  She's wearing her favorite around her wrist as a bracelet.  

This afternoon when I picked Anthony up from school, it looked and sounded like he was in trouble with one of the teachers in charge of parent pick up.  When they called his name, HIS teacher came over and wanted to talk to me.  Ms. Dale said he tried to flush a milk carton down the toilet and had to go to the vice principles office.  Then at parent pick up, he drew a peace sign on his forehead with magic marker.  When we got home I sent him to his room and told him he was to sit on his bed and to be still and quiet.  A couple minutes later, I saw that his door was closed and Emily was missing.  I went to check on them and the two of them were sitting on his bed and Anthony was reading Emily a book.  How could I stay mad :)

Mommy's happy place

Johnny surprised us this morning with a trip to Cades Cove.  When Anthony heard where we were going he asked if it was my birthday.  I guess he knows where my happy place is.  We had such a good day.  We stopped at our usual pull over spot so the kids could throw rocks in the water.  I think we may have to wait until summer to do that again.  Emily ran right thru the water.  It must have been freezing.  When I tried to stop her from doing it again, she had a hissy fit and threw herself on the ground.  Anthony and I brought our new cameras.  Johnny spotted a bear and we saw a lot of deer.
