Yesterday Grandma brought over the parts to Anthony's old toddler bed. Anthony insisted that we didn't need to wait for Daddy, that he could put it together without his help. I let him play around without (without the bolts) until I realized he was right. He didn't need any help at all. It only took him a few minutes to figure out where each piece went. He's so amazing like that. He's always been good at putting things together. I was his assistant. (I held parts still while he worked) He realized we were missing two bolts and wanted to walk to Grandpa's to see if he had any the size we needed. Daddy picked us up on his way home from work and took my place as Anthony's assistant. Together they finished up the bed.
Emily wasn't to excited and it took some convincing to get her to even sit in her new bed. Eventually Anthony coaxed her in and together the two of them put their heads down on Emily's first big girl pillow. I stayed with Emily for two hours because she didn't want to be by herself. Then Daddy took my place until she finally fell asleep. Today she learned the joys of a big girl bed. Since it's low to the ground, unlike her crib, Lucy can lay down with her. She was excited to see that.
Today I prepared for her to put up a fight at naptime. Instead after having her pants changed and reaching for her bottle of milk she climbed right up in bed with Lucy. I put of the baby gate, cracked the door and never heard a peep out of her. I went to peek at her about fifteen minutes later and she was out like a light. :)
Oh, and I have a feeling there will be less pictures of Emily's smiling face. Her big brother taught her to stick out her tongue when it's time to have her picture taken.
