Dollywood and the Doctors

Grandma took Emily to Dollywood for the day.  Anthony didn't mind staying home because I had rented him a new video game for his wii and he could play uninterupted. Emily got to see the dog show, where if Grandma bought a fancy light up frisbee, Emily could go onstage and have her picture taken with a dog from the show.  Doesn't she look thrilled?

There has been much debate about Aubrey's birth weight.  When she was born they filled out the card in her bassinet and said she was 19 1/2 inches long and 9 pounds 10 ounces.  By the time we left the hospital they said she was under 9 lbs.  She was born on Wednesday and had her first doctor appointment Saturday.  She saw Dr. Ruth (the doctor the kids have seen for sick visits when their doctor is not in the office) and he said she weighted 8 lbs 8 ounces and that he didn't think it was likely that she weighed 9.10 at birth because babies that lose more than a pound after birth don't look near as healthy as Aubrey.  He made an appointment that Monday to see her own doctor, Dr Powers.  When we went back she still only weighed 8.8 and Dr Powers agreed with Dr Ruth about her birth weight.  Plus, they had requested her information from the hospital and according to what they sent, Aubrey weighed 7 lbs, 10 ounces.  Obviously I was extremely frustrated with the situation and have come to terms that we may never know Aubrey's birth weight.  We came to the conclusion that maybe the nurse meant 9 lbs 1 oz and not 9.10.  The doctor agreed that was very possible.  He made an appointment for the following week to recheck her weight and she was up to 8 lbs 12 oz. The important thing is that she's healthy.  That's all that matters.
